A front garden planted for colour from spring through fall

The brief was curb appeal, so the bed had to read from the sidewalk as well as from the porch. We shaped it as a sweep along the walk and edged it in cobblestone to hold the line, then planted in layers so something is in flower across the season instead of everything arriving at once.

Coneflowers, hydrangea and low evergreens do the work here, with mulch throughout to keep the soil cool and the weeding manageable.
